Cybereco and the Multidisciplinary Institute for Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience (IMC2) are pleased to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding that marks the strengthening of a strategic collaboration aimed at developing the country’s cybersecurity ecosystem. As members of Cybereco, the three founding universities of IMC2 (Polytechnique Montréal, Université de Montréal, and HEC Montréal) reaffirm their commitment to promoting innovation and research in cybersecurity by fostering links between the academic and industrial sectors.

Objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding
The memorandum of understanding establishes a structured framework for fruitful collaboration between the two entities. This collaboration is based on principles of mutual respect and recognition of shared objectives, with a common conviction that this initiative will bring significant added value to both parties and to the entire cybersecurity ecosystem in the country.

Aware of the importance of their role in the growth of cybersecurity in Québec and Canada, the two organizations commit to cooperating, promoting, and facilitating concrete projects and programs that will actively contribute to this mission.

Collaboration Areas
The memorandum of understanding has identified four main areas of collaboration. First, collaborative multidisciplinary research and development, with the identification of relevant research issues for the ecosystem, the development of joint R&D projects, and the valorization of projects, with a particular focus on innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship.

Collaborative initiatives will also be developed to guide the training of cybersecurity talent to meet the specific needs of the sector. The collaboration will also focus on the development and promotion of public policies favorable to the growth of the field. Finally, joint outreach actions will be undertaken to increase the visibility and impact of cybersecurity initiatives at both the provincial and national levels.

Statements
« We are delighted to seal this agreement with Cybereco, a key player in the cybersecurity ecosystem in Canada. Together, we will not only strengthen our research and innovation capacities, but we will also ensure coherence between our actions and the needs of the field actors represented by Cybereco, » said Frédéric Cuppens, Director of IMC2.

Pascal Fortin, CEO of Cybereco, added: « This memorandum of understanding marks a significant step in structuring the country’s cybersecurity ecosystem. We look forward to collaborating even more closely with IMC2 to create a lasting impact in Québec and Canada. »
