Cyber Resilience: What Capabilities Do Our Organizations Need to Be Better Prepared?
The shift from a protection-centered mindset to a cyber resilience approach marks an important evolution. But cyber resilience cannot be decreed: it must be prepared for, tested, and practiced. Beyond compliance and defensive technologies, it also relies on the ability of teams, processes, and governance structures to function effectively under pressure.
During this seminar, Benoît Dupont will open the discussion by providing context, drawing on findings of the latest report on the state of cybersecurity in Quebec. He will then participate in a discussion with Kéren Saint-Hilaire and Laurent Desaulniers, who will share their perspectives drawn from research, entrepreneurship, and field experience. Marc Gervais, Executive Director of IMC², will moderate the discussion.
The discussion will explore the capabilities that truly enable organizations to better prepare themselves: penetration tests, crisis exercises, simulations, team coordination, organizational learning, and testing existing plans.
It will also address a key issue: not all organizations have the same resources to develop and test these capabilities, whether they are large corporations, SMEs, public agencies, or nonprofits.
Finally, the panel will focus on ways to strengthen preparedness, particularly through the sharing and pooling of capabilities, expertise, and training environments, as well as the role academia can play in developing these resources and making them accessible to a wider range of organizations.
