Quantum Computing: Between Threats and Opportunities for Cybersecurity
A full house for our Cybersecurity Awareness Month seminar!
Prof. Cherkaoui provided an in-depth exploration of quantum computing, sparking keen interest and lively discussions among the many attendees. Her expertise and ability to facilitate the exchanges were greatly appreciated.
Summary:
Quantum technologies have made remarkable progress in recent years, exceeding expectations and opening up new possibilities. While quantum computing is often seen as a threat to cybersecurity due to its ability to break conventional encryption, it can also revolutionize cyber defense. Quantum computing and quantum machine learning could significantly enhance the machine learning models used in cybersecurity, thereby improving our ability to detect and respond to threats more effectively. In this presentation, Professor Cherkaoui invited us to explore the potential of these technologies, as well as the main technical challenges related to integrating quantum computing and machine learning to identify and counter cyber threats.
