Large language models in support of cybersecurity
A very enriching presentation at IMC2‘s research seminar held at HEC Montréal on Monday, December 2nd!
François Charest captivated us with a talk on the use of large language models (LLMs) for anomaly detection in command lines. By framing the various uses in the context of industrial applications, he illustrated the challenges and opportunities that these methods (based on work conducted in collaboration with McGill University) bring.
This seminar marked our last ‘Cyber Mondays’ seminar of the year. See you in 2025 to continue our exploration of multidisciplinary themes at the heart of cybersecurity and cyber resilience!
Summary:
In this seminar at the intersection of research and industrial applications, François Charest emphasized the importance of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for organizational security and reviewed a variety of conventional AI applications in security. New opportunities brought by generative AI for defensive cybersecurity teams were discussed, and concrete examples of applications of Large Language Models for anomaly detection in command lines in the context of Threat Hunting were presented.
